Meetings of Westcott Parish Council take place in the Cricket Pavilion, Westcott Cricket Club unless otherwise advised.
All meetings will be held on a Tuesday, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm (latest) at Westcott Cricket Club on the following dates:
All Parish Councils are required to hold at least four meetings each year that are open to the public to attend, one of which must be an Annual Meeting of the full Council.
Westcott Parish Council meets around every six weeks, the dates of all the meetings for the upcoming year are published annually in May.
Once a year a ‘Parish Meeting’ takes place between 1 March and 1 June (see list of meetings above for date of the next one). These meetings are open to the public but only the registered electors for the Parish are permitted to speak and vote on any proposal.
A parish council meeting is not a public meeting, it is a meeting held in public. Westcott Parish Council meets and makes its decisions in public and is committed to community engagement.
We invite members of the public, police and unitary councillors to attend meetings and contribute within the ‘Public Forum’. Public participation will be for a period of fifteen minutes and takes place at the start of the meeting so that Parish Councillors may take into account any views expressed when reaching their decisions.
Any member of the public wishing to speak should notify the Chairman before the meeting starts or when invited to do so in the meeting. Public participation is only permitted regarding items already on the agenda and the matter may be addressed immediately or carried forward without discussion.
A maximum of three minutes is permitted for a member of the public to speak and only one person may speak on any agenda item. Two people may speak if opposing views are being expressed i.e. one for and one against a particular matter.
The public is asked to respect the fact that this is a meeting to conduct council business and interruptions during council business are not permitted. If the business is disrupted in any way the person/s causing the disruption may be asked to leave.
Supplementary comments or questions are solely at the discretion of the Chairman.
No question may be repeated within a 6-month period.
The Parish Council will automatically provide an opportunity via the agenda for the police and the unitary councillors to attend and report to meetings and respond to any questions or queries from councillors.
