Westcott Venture Park

Originally created as a base for training bomber crews in WWII, the site became a Government Research Establishment in 1946 specifically for research into rocket propulsion and the development of rocket motors. Now home to over 70 successful businesses including Moog, Shanks, Fedex, New Era and BAe Systems. The site comprises 650 acres of which 500,000 sq ft is developed; the next phase of development is focussed on three areas covering a total of close to 35 acres. Outline planning consent has been granted. Over 400 staff are employed on site. Solar Park has been created producing 1.6MW of power.

Westcott Parish Council has a regular quarterly meeting with the management of the Venture Park. At these meetings prospective or submitted planning applications and issues about businesses operating on the site whose operations affect the village are discussed.
